We're 10 days into our 3,000 nautical mile voyage across the Pacific Ocean, and King Neptune is about to bless us with our most exciting moment of the trip yet...After downing a lunch of freshly caught fish tacos from a skipjack we snagged that morning, the crew was getting lulled into a food coma/siesta mode with the rolling of the boat. But we sprang to life when we heard that unmistakeable sound.....FISH ON!!! We hook an absolute MONSTER that puts our fishing skills to the test. They come in lengths from 1m to 10 metres and can be cut to size (every 3cm) They are low draw and 12v based so you can just throw away the mains plug and wire the controller into the boat (if you have a 12v boat) I show this in the lighting video. KAMIKOTO KNIVES We've been impressed by these high end Japanese knives, it's always good to have proper knives on a boat. FILM NIGHT So here's what we're using for our film nights: We have an Apeman projector. If you want to project onto a very large area like a sail then you might need a bigger projector. The screen is this one: 🤍 Ours is a 40inch version, there is also a 50 inch version. This one is great as it's self supporting (you can mount it on the floor and pull it up) TEXTALE clothing We were surprised, as you may have noticed, by this tee shirt. I really didn't think it would perform quite as well as it did. If you want something that will stay looking good when normally you would be picking up messy marks then this is definitely worth a try. 🤍

It had been years since we did a big ocean passage...Delos crossed the Atlantic without us while we were in Sweden welcoming Sierra into the world, but our last big sail was Africa to Brazil, which feels like a life time ago! We had forgotten what it felt like to spend weeks at sea, to lose sight of land, familiarity, and civilization...To lose track of time and daily obligations in such a monumental way, and become hyper focused on the present and living in such a beautiful and simple routine. After months of preparation, we finally pull the hook and depart on our journey of nearly 3,000 nautical miles across the world's largest ocean. Within just 4 miles of leaving we face our first curveball of the trip as our normally trusty engine starts playing tricks on us. But Delos is a sailboat, and that's what we were gonna do! So we press onwards and meet some pretty epic conditions, catch a monster fish, mingle with some curious dolphins, and soak up our last sight of land for weeks. In August 2021 I plan to sail solo, non-stop, unassisted around the world from Ireland back to Ireland via the 5 great capes, I will be using a sextant and paper charts as my primary navigation tools. If I am successful, I will be the first Irish person to complete a solo non-stop circumnavigation of the world. I estimate the trip will take approximately 8 months nonstop. My yacht Waxwing is a Rival 41. The entire trip will be recorded and documented from start to finish. From preparation of Waxing to upgrades, fitting new equipment, sea trials and then the trip itself. I have been working non-stop on this project for two years. Preparing waxwing for the circumnavigation. I have waxwing almost ready and will be showing you all of my updates on my channel. I will also have a live tracker for people to follow my position and progress live, this will be available to view as soon as I set sail. 🤍

Our sail down the US West coast continues and in this episode it's time for us to go around the infamous Point Conception. We spend a couple of days cruising the channel islands, San Miguel and Santa Cruz looking at caves and sea elephants. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat Ran, a custom built Beason 40 in aluminium and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter in January 2016. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us. In this episode, we enjoy Rangiroa, the Atoll famous for its spectacular entrance due to strong currents and pretty hairy tidal water effect. This requires some planning not only arriving in daylight, but to time this with the tidal water that can create some serious challenges at the entrance. There are no tidal tables to look at, so I used my sailing experience to come up with a strategy to find the best timeframe and also to leave this atoll soon. I used to sail singlehanded and occasionally have sailing friends onboard. But now the permanent crew aboard BE FREE is including Gee from Holland. We are now exploring the Pacific Ocean. Even though this is season 5 on YouTube I did not make that many videos in the beginning. Before full-time sailing, I sailed several seasons in the Mediterranean prior to, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I have been traveling the world before and have also been an active regatta sailor. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing ever since. Also, more than 10 years of experience in Search and Rescue at sea in Norway. PLEASE BE KIND IN THE COMMENTS!
