VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: You can tell a newborn has a stuffed nose because he'll make snorting sounds when he breathes and sounds snuffly. He may also start breathing through his mouth, which can make feeding difficult. You can help clear your child's nose by running a #humidifier or cool mist vaporizer near his crib and using saline nose drops. If you have trouble wiping away the mucus, try using an infant nasal bulb, also called a nasal aspirator. Start by squeezing the air out of the bulb and gently placing the tip into the nostril, just inside the opening. Make sure you don't push it into the nose. Loosen your fingers on the bulb, which will help pull the mucus out of the nose with it. Squeeze the mucus out onto a tissue. Rinse the bulb well with fresh water before and after each use. To use a nasal aspirator, start by squeezing the air out of the bulb and gently placing the tip in the nostril, just inside the opening. Loosen your fingers on the bulb, which will pull the mucus out of the nose. Rinse the bulb well after use. The examination of the nose should first review the external nose, looking for evidence of deviation. It is important in the case of trauma, that a septal haematoma is ruled out. Pour ingredients and water into the sinus rinse bottle up to the dotted line. If you were instructed to add medication, add it in along with the saline packet. You can also warm it up in the microwave for about 30 seconds until lukewarm if you prefer for comfort. 2. Secure the tip of the nozzle into one nostril and bend forward over the sink or shower. With the nozzle pointed towards the top of your head, gently squeeze the bottle. The water will flush out your nose and sinus cavities and exit through your opposite nostril or your mouth.
