Füssen was such a small town but it really has it all! Colourful ancient buildings in the old town, stunning churches, majestic lakes and more to come in part 2! It’s not too crowded but still very much lively. Definitely recommend spending a few days here if you are looking to get away from the city. I stayed at Jugendherberge Youth Hostel when I was there and it was very comfortable for €30 per night. The place was clean, the rooms were warm and showers were hot. There is even a breakfast buffet every morning. Check it out if you’re looking for a budget-friendly place to stay. A colorful and calm town on the Lech river. It is very close to many Germany's well known attractions. Just few Kilometers to the two of the most famous castles in Germany. Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles are just 4 km from the town. In this tour, we will discover the beauty of the town and walk through its streets and walk by the Lech river side and enjoying the great view of the surrounding mountains. 🤍Dean_Trips takes a train from Munich to Füssen, Germany to explore the area and visit the famous Neuschwanstein Castle. Dean tries to rent a bicycle to get around but all the bike rental places were on a midday break, so Dean finds a nice hiking trail to follow to Schwansee and to the Neuschwanstein Castle. Before hiking, Dean explores a little of the old city (Altstadt) of Füssen, and checks out its own Hohen Schloss Castle. On the way to Neuschwanstein, Dean stops by the place where the Frauenstein Castle used to stand which offers a nice view towards the Hohenschwangau Fortress and Neuschwanstein. Tickets sell out fast for tours inside Neuschwanstein, so Dean booked online while on the train a 4pm tour. Dean looks to see if he can get a nice photo near where the Queen Mary's Bridge (Marienbrücke) is located as the internet reported the bridge to be closed for repairs. To his surprise Dean finds the busy bridge actually open and gets some photos and video footage from that famous view and close by as well. Dean discovers while on the Neuschwanstein tour that photography and videography is not allowed except from the balcony looking out towards the beautiful mountain scenery. Neuschwanstein è il castello delle favole per eccellenza, fatto costruire dal "re delle favole" Ludwig II a partire dal 1869. Questa volta, l’abbiamo visitato in inverno sia con la neve dal cielo, che con il sole. Un paesaggio incantevole. Neuschwanstein, situato nel sud della Baviera quasi al confine con l'Austria, domina dall'alto dei suoi 965 metri i paesi di Füssen e Schwangau ed il magnifico paesaggio circostante, caratterizzato da diversi laghi tra i quali spicca per bellezza il piccolo Alpsee. Per godere di una splendida vista sul castello occorre raggiungere il ponte di Maria (Marienbrücke), così chiamato in onore della regina Maria, madre di Ludwig II, che è sospeso sopra la gola del Pöllat. Walt Disney prese Neuschwanstein come modello per il castello del suo celebre film d'animazione "La bella addormentata nel bosco" (1959).

Füssen, Germany Walking tour 4K. September 5, 2022. Füssen is part of the federal state of Bavaria, best known for its two magnificent castles located nearby, and is the last stop on the German Romantic Road, which crosses the country from north to south.
Davis Family Trip Pt 3 Edelweiss lodge and resort We piled into our Mercedes Rent-A-Car and drove the five-hour trip from Dietzenbach to Garmisch. Garmisch is town in Bavaria, in southern Germany and Surrounded by the Alps. We stayed at the edelweiss lodge. The scenery was totally off the hook. Check out some these pictures of the Lodge and the view from our resort. On our tour to Neuschwanstein castle, we headed a town called Steingaden. Came here to see The Pilgrimage Church of Wies. Which is an oval church, designed in the late 1740s. Its still amazing what they can create back then. When we first arrived in the parking lot to see the church, I notice these two RV's. Of course I need to get video of the two rigs. The red one is old fire and rescue vehicle from England. I met this gentleman while feeling up his 5 gallon water containers. The white one is an older rv build by Fiat. Both are pretty cool. Next stop is Neuschwanstein castle. It was here that Disney got his inspiration for the Sleeping Beauty Castle. Its a one mile walk up a semi-steep hill to the castle. So we took the horse and carriage. The carriage is powered by an electric motor, so the horses are not pulling and weight. The sign says stay 1.6 meters apart on the Queen Mary’s Bridge. I don't think that's possible. This bridge gives you this shot of the castle. The castle was created by Ludwig II. He was King of Bavaria at the age of 18 in 1864 until his death in 1886. he was 41 years. He never seen the castle completed. Konnte mir gar nicht vorstellen das Fahrradtouren auch bei schlechtem Wetter spaß machen. Heute wollten wir eine Tour über Pfronten, Vilstal, Oberjoch, Sonthofen, Wertach, Nesselwang und Füssen absolvieren, Berge in Wolken gehüllt bin ich nicht gewöhnt, aber es war was besonderes.
Me and the wife booked two weeks off work, booked a ferry and travelled down to Switzerland for our first ever European road trip in our VW Campervan. After surviving the storm from the night before, we settle into camp and decide to take the free bus into the local town of Fussen, We have a good mooch around the town and take in the local attractions. Back at camp, we chill out, get an ice cream (in true German style!), have a very German dinner, and then relax on the shores of the Bannwaldsee. What an awesome place :) PS This was our holiday, so the dodgy recording and commentary was done as and when we could be bothered, so excuse some of the crappy shots we got!

POV Video of a recent drive on the German Autobahn. This time the A7 in South Germany (Bavaria). The A7 is one of the main North-South corridors in Germany and runs all the way from the Danish border in the North to the Austrian border in the South. The drive in this video runs through the foothills of the Alps, from Kempten im Allgäu to Füssen. Füssen / Schwangau are on the border with Austria and famous for the Neuschwanstein castle. It's the last exit on the A7 before the tunnel that runs into Austria. The road connects to the Austrian Fernpass that crosses into Tyrol and connects to the Austrian A12 Autobahn leading to Innsbruck. This is an important through-route for traffic to the South of Europe and fairly busy in the high season. Apologies for the dirty windshield, it's summer and there is an increase in bugs. Füssen was settled in Roman times, on the Via Claudia Augusta, a road that leads southwards to northern Italy and northwards to Augusta Vindelicum (today's Augsburg), the former regional capital of the Roman province Raetia. The original name of Füssen was "Foetes", or "Foetibus" (inflected), which derives from Latin "Fauces", meaning "gorge", probably referring to the Lech gorge.
