Claudio Abbado (1933-2014) was an Italian conductor who was one of the leading conductors of his generation. Reinhold Friedrich (1958) is a German trumpeter and university lecturer in Karlsruhe. He is considered one of the greatest classical trumpeters of all time. They interpret Johann Sebastian Bach's 'Brandenburg Concerto #2 in F', BWV 1047. The 'Brandenburg Concertos' were a present to the Margrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt, Christian Ludwig, in 1721. Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) was a German composer, virtuoso organist and harpsichordist, music educator, conductor and choirmaster. He's considered one of the greatest composers of all time. The Soloists : Johann Nepomuk Hummel Trumpet Concerto In E Major by Reinhold Friedrich ( Trumpet ) Aus dem Orchester ist die Trompete kaum wegzudenken, doch sie solistisch zu erleben, ist immer etwas ganz Besonderes. Mit Reinhold Friedrich ist einer der renommiertesten Trompeter der Gegenwart zu Gast. Er war 16 Jahre lang Solotrompeter des hr-Sinfonieorchesters Frankfurt, bevor er 2003 von Claudio Abbado zum ständigen Solotrompeter des Lucerne Festival Orchestra ernannt wurde. Als Solist konzertiert er mit den bedeutendsten Klangkörpern weltweit. Mit den Dortmunder Philharmonikern wird Friedrich das festlich-strahlende Trompetenkonzert von Johann Nepomuk Hummel aufführen. Hummel widmete das Konzert Anton Weidinger, dem Trompeter der Hofkapelle des Fürsten Esterházy. Mit dem Konzert wollte Weidinger seine selbst entwickelte Klappentrompete präsentieren, der Hummel weitaus mehr abverlangen konnte als den bis dahin verbreiteten Naturtrompeten. Uraufgeführt wurde das Werk 1804, als Hummel in der Nachfolge von Joseph Haydn zum Leiter der esterházyschen Hofkapelle ernannt wurde. With Reinhold Friedrich, one of the most renowned trumpeters of the present day is visiting. He was principal trumpeter of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra for 16 years before being appointed permanent principal trumpeter of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra by Claudio Abbado in 2003. As a soloist he gives concerts with the most important orchestras worldwide. With the Dortmund Philharmonic, Friedrich will perform Johann Nepomuk Hummel's festive, radiant trumpet concerto. Hummel dedicated the concert to Anton Weidinger, the trumpeter of Prince Esterházy's court orchestra. With the concert, Weidinger wanted to present his self-developed keyed trumpet, which Hummel could demand a lot more than the natural trumpets that had been widespread up until then. Allegro cadenza Abstract: For the initial cue, it is necessary to blow quickly without thinking on the high note because the required attack is very fast. The professor mentions how the performer must help herself by using the lips to reach the high tessitura. French tradition usually imposes to play fast passages alternated with slower ones, but in this case the air is always “vif”. Then they work on dynamics, metrical freedom, vibrato or phrasing for the fast descending passages, among other musical issues. Professor Friedrich also recommends not doing very big diminuendi in order to avoid losing the sound in the concert hall. Scherzando must not be exaggerated but progressing little by little. Besides, they speak about the sound ending, fermata and notes duration to get more expressivity and energy control. Finally, the professor explains how to perform the cadence. Von der Cazon prima per Canto sola über die weltberühmte Sonata pian'e forte, einer Canzone für acht Posaunen bis hin zum glanzvollen Höhepunkt einer 5-chörigen Canzone mit 22 einzelnen Stimmen mit 15 Trompeten und 15 Posaunen, spannt sich ein weiter Bogen um die Pracht Venedigs zur Zeit des 16. Jahrhunderts zu demonstrieren. Mit fantasievollen Verzierungen im Stil der Zeit und einer historisch beeinflussten Spielweise des Frühbarocks wollen die Blechbläser diese kostbaren Juwelen zum Leben erwecken, begleitet von einer besonders gestimmten Continuo-Orgel mit reinen Dur und Moll-Terzen. Es ist der Versuch einer Annäherung mittels moderner Instrumente an die prachtvollste Epoche dieser frühen barocken Musizierpraxis.
